Colgate Inn – An Experience in Hospitality
Since closing its doors to the public last November, the Colgate Inn has reopened, having undergone an extensive top-to-bottom remodeling, all with the clientele in mind. From the updated look that greets Inn-goers at every turn, to behind-the-scenes renovations that will assist staff in better service, the Colgate Inn offers a fresh, smart, yet classic feel that is sure to make patrons feel at home.
"We've always considered the Colgate Inn to be not just about great food and lodging," said Director of Operations Peter Younglove. "We've also viewed it as an experience in hospitality. With the renovations, it's now even more so." Younglove indicated that many renovations to the Inn, such as a new service elevator and receiving area, might not be obvious to consumers, but will make a subtle difference in their experience.
The changes that can be seen by guests, however, are remarkable. The Inn's guest rooms have been entirely updated, and a consistent theme runs throughout. All have been decorated with grey textured wallpaper and appointed with black finished furnishings. Each room offers understated elegance, from bathrooms featuring walk-in showers and soaking tubs, to overstuffed, comfortable chairs and sofas, perfect for relaxation.
"We also had many Colgate alumni who missed the tap room bar being in the front of the building, where it historically was located. We've moved it back to the front of the building, where it will easily accommodate our outdoor seating area," he added. The Tap, Tavern and Green Rooms have all been redecorated with a consistent look and feel, with doors that open between the three rooms to accommodate larger meetings and receptions.
Additional renovations include: a new back lobby with stone flooring; a remodeled front desk area that is more consumer-accessible; central location of the kitchen area; and new restrooms on the first floor of the Inn. The Inn's hidden gem, the Rathskellar, has undergone renovation as well. This basement room, which serves high-end craft beers and wines, now features restroom accommodations and boasts the original stone flooring, which was uncovered during the renovation.
Grand opening events for the Colgate Inn are scheduled to take place in early summer, with the main event for the Hamilton community culminating during the annual block party on July 3.
